Initial Assessment and Treatment

Your first appointment will last around one hour to allow enough time for a detailed assessment and initial treatment.

During this session, we will:

  • Take a comprehensive history, discussing your general health, lifestyle, and the concerns or symptoms you’d like us to address.

  • Carry out a thorough physical examination of the affected area. This may include assessing your movement patterns, testing muscle strength and joint mobility, and performing specific tests to help identify the underlying cause of the problem.

Once the assessment is complete, we’ll outline our findings, identify the key issues, and talk through whether treatment is recommended. Together, we’ll agree on a personalised treatment plan that suits your needs and goals.

If treatment is required, our focus will be to improve movement, function, and comfort, while correcting any compensations or contributing factors. You’ll receive clear advice on exercises and self-management strategies, and where helpful, a custom exercise programme to follow at home.

The number and frequency of follow-up sessions will depend on your individual assessment findings, progress, and your own specific requirements.

Treatment

Treatment sessions often combine several approaches to support recovery and long-term wellbeing. These may include:

  • Education and advice on condition management

  • Targeted exercise therapy

  • Manual (hands-on) techniques

  • Soft tissue and joint mobilisation

  • Stretching and flexibility work

  • Electrotherapy where appropriate

  • Rehabilitation and movement re-training

Each treatment plan is tailored specifically to you, with the goal of reducing pain, restoring normal movement, and preventing recurrence.
